This project is a pretty big time commitment, which is fine because it’s a way I [Tina] am choosing to give back to our community. I believe my calling is to encourage others and ensure people feel seen. This platform is one meaningful way for doing that.
That said, I would love to have people who align with mission provide financial support so I can break even with expenses. Having people help back the project is an encouragement to me.
Your full donation goes directly to services. No one takes a salary, but there are operational expenses, such as the website, supplies, recruitment, promotion, etc…
As of 3/25/23, my out of pocket expenses are at least $335 and I have received $195 to support this work. (This does not include the supplies I’ve shared with people that I owned before kicking this off. ) With additional gifts totaling $140, I will be close to a break even point. (I didn’t start tracking costs until May of 2022 so I definitely missed some expenses.)
In 2022, I would like to invest more in supplies, postage, recruiting more people and continuing the website. Gifts of $210 will cover most costs.
For those who want to give informally, you can chip in a few dollars when I see you, write a check payable to Tina Arnoldi, or support online. That way of giving is not tax deductible but I keep detailed records and am happy to share that information. If donations ever get to the point where it’s more than I can use for the project in its current state, I will put a pause on things and step back to reevaluate the best way to grow. (Those who know me already know these things!)
We are also fiscally sponsored by CharlestonGood.com which gives this project added credibility. All donations through them are 100% tax deductible and they receive 5% of gifts for their work as a fiscal sponsor.
To support us in a tax-deductible way, please make checks out to “Charleston Good” and indicate “Be Kind Charleston” in the memo line. The mailing address is 72 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
If you prefer to give a tax-deductible donation by credit card, please click here and scroll to the bottom for the donate button. Please add “Be Kind Charleston” to the note when you submit your gift. (If you donate through CharlestonGood, please also email hello [at] bekindcharleston.org so I know about the donation and can thank you without delay!)
I appreciate people who make cards at home to distribute to one of our organizations. Your efforts do not go unnoticed by our recipients! Once I receive donations reaching a minimum of $350 to cover costs mentioned above, I will resume group events and take this to the next level.
Thanks for your support and please do let me know if you have questions or ideas,
Tina
